Columbus Blue Jackets vs Pittsburgh Penguins Betting Odds & Prediction
March 07, 2019
The Columbus Blue Jackets (37-26-3) take on the Pittsburgh Penguins (35-22-9) in what has become a fairly intense divisional and geographical rivalry at the Nationwide Arena on Saturday evening.
The teams were due to face each other in the reverse fixture on Thursday evening prior to this game and also locked horns in Columbus a couple of weeks ago, with the Penguins running out 5-2 winners on that occasion.
The Blue Jackets last result at the time of writing was a 2-1 shootout win on the road at the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday evening.
As things stand, the Blue Jackets are averaging 3.09 Goals per Game, which leaves them 11th in the overall NHL standings. Defensively they have allowed 2.98 Goals per Game (tied 14th). On an individual basis, Cam Atkinson has scored 36 goals, while Artemi Panarin has recorded 48 assists.
Prior to Thursday’s game on home-ice against the Blue Jackets, the Penguins won 3-2 in overtime on home-ice against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday evening.
The Penguins are averaging 3.45 Goals per Game (5th overall), while allowing 3.06 Goals per Game (tied 17th). Jake Guentzel has 33 goals this season for the Penguins, while Sidney Crosby has registered 56 assists.
This is not an easy game for predictions, with both teams chasing playoff places and having mixed results of late. With relatively little to choose between the teams, home-ice advantage could prove decisive in this one, so the Blue Jackets are the tips on the Money Line betting odds.
